I had the pleasure of climbing to La Vare with a friend, where we began the ascent from the Pont de Nant, overlooking the Vaud mountains. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful. After a sunny hour-and-a-quarter climb, we were warmly welcomed by the team at the alpine chalet, where we met Laura at the table and Pilou in the kitchen, who treated us to a delicious cheese and bacon rösti and a glass of very good rosé wine generously donated by Gérald, the host. He's a kind, generous man with a passion for his job and a contagious smile who shares his passion for animals, the mountain pastures and his cow Gentiane.
